Our Mission Statement
Imagine if all young people could enter adult life with a clear understanding of who they are, how to live, and where they are heading. The Rising Foundation believes in the potential of youth, seeing first hand how a sustained programme of intervention and support works to lift their life trajectory
Our Kaupapa
Our programme currently runs in partnership with different secondary schools in South Auckland. The Rising Foundation works with students from Year 8-13 through weekly meetings and adventure camps. Our employment pathways team, journeys on with our programme graduates until they are in the workforce or further education.
Core Programme
During their five years at high school, young people undergo huge changes in their thought life, emotional life, their behaviour and their physical development. We are with them, supporting them every day at school through this amazing time of transformation. We serve as mentors, guides, and advocates as they navigate this challenging journey.
Transition 1 Process
We first engage with our students while they are still at Intermediate school. We know how important a smooth and affirming transition into secondary school can be for these young ones. Our comprehensive response to this challenge includes, a preparitory tuakana-teina kaupapa and their first immersive TRF camp experience, Transition camp. This is Transition 1.
Transition 2 Service
If the first transition is important, the second transition, from the world of school to the world of work is one of the most challenging phases of a young persons life. We ensure our Graduates are equipped for the relational and vocational issues that this time presents and we offer practical assistance and relevant guidance as they head out into tertiary education or into the workforce.
